OK Divers opened in the port village of Padangbai, on Bali's southeast coast, in 2002 and has grown into a PADI 5 Star dive resort. The dive centre sits within its own 30-room colonial-style hotel, with swimming pools, a spa and a restaurant and bar, so divers can stay, eat and kit up in one place.
Its daily trips cover the local Padangbai reefs and jetty macro dive, the current-swept islets of Gili Mimpang, Gili Tepekong and Gili Biaha with its shark cave, and longer days out to Manta Point, Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay, Toyapakeh and Blue Corner around Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. It also runs east-coast trips to Tulamben, Kubu, Amed and Gili Selang, macro days at Puri Jati and Secret Bay, and Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park on request.
Courses run from Bubblemaker and Discover Scuba Diving through PADI Open Water, Advanced, Enriched Air Nitrox, Emergency First Response and Rescue to a four-week or three-month Divemaster internship, and the centre also teaches Apnea Academy freediving courses. Nitrox is free for certified divers, and night dives can be added in Padangbai or Tulamben.
At the time of writing, published prices for two dives (equipment not included) started at IDR 1,450,000 in Padangbai, IDR 1,650,000 at Tulamben and IDR 2,400,000 for Manta Point or Blue Corner, with full equipment hire at IDR 250,000 a day. The PADI Open Water course was listed from IDR 6,900,000. Check the website for current rates.
