Terumbu Divers — Small PADI 5 Star Centre on Lombok's Sire Beach, 10 Minutes by Boat from the Gilis

Terumbu Divers is a PADI 5 Star dive centre that has been diving the Gili Islands since 1999. After several years based on Gili Trawangan, the team moved across to mainland Lombok and now runs the only dive centre on Pantai Sire (Sire Beach) in north Lombok, inside the Anema resort. It is a quieter alternative to staying on the Gilis: guests at nearby resorts such as Tugu, Villa Sapi, Anandita and Sepoi-Sepoi can walk or cycle over, and the boat reaches Gili Air in around 10 minutes. The centre is run by PADI instructors Kheng and Gilles, and the team between them speaks English, French, Mandarin and Indonesian.

The centre has two boats, the traditional Lombok-style Sofia and the smaller Terumbu, and keeps groups small rather than filling boats with 25 or more divers. The usual day is a two-dive morning trip (meet at 8:15, back around midday), with afternoon dives at Gili Air or Sire and night dives when the tide allows. It visits more than 20 sites around the three Gilis and Sire, including Hans Reef, Air Wall and Secret Garden off Gili Air, Turtle City, Mirko Reef and Meno Wall off Gili Meno, and Sire Reef, a calm site used for try dives and course training. Rental gear in sizes from XXS, dive computers and oxygen kits are on hand, and the nearest decompression chamber is in Tanjung, 10–15 minutes away.

Training runs from Discover Scuba Diving (from 8 years old) and PADI Scuba Diver through Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, specialties and Master Scuba Diver to Divemaster. Dive-and-stay packages with Anema resort are available, as are private guides and private boat days.

At the time of writing, a two-dive morning trip cost IDR 1,195,000, a ten-dive package IDR 4,700,000, a night dive IDR 795,000 and a try dive (pool plus one sea dive at Sire) IDR 995,000, with the PADI Open Water course offered at IDR 5,250,000. The marine park ticket (IDR 100,000 per diver) is extra, and fuel surcharges apply for trips to Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan, so check current rates with the centre before you book.
