Amed Dive Center opened in July 2002 and is one of the older dive operators on Bali's east coast. It is a registered SSI Dive Center, based in the grounds of the Hotel Uyah Amed & Spa Resort beside Cafe Garam on Amed's main beach road, and its instructors hold both SSI and PADI ratings. Dive-and-stay packages are available with the partner hotel.
The centre dives Amed's own sites, among them the Japanese wreck, the Pyramids, Ghost Bay, Amed Wall, Batu Niti, Kusambi and Gili Selang, as well as the USAT Liberty and other sites at Tulamben, using its own dive boat and transport. Morning trips usually leave at around 8:30 and return about midday, with a second trip at around 14:00, and night dives can be booked. The centre also publishes guides to the dive sites at Menjangan, Candidasa and Nusa Penida, so ask about trips further afield.
Courses follow the SSI system: Try Scuba and Bubble Maker, Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, Advanced Adventurer and specialties including Wreck, Deep, Perfect Buoyancy and Navigation, with Rescue Diver also offered.
At the time of writing, one fun dive in Amed or Tulamben costs IDR 470,000 in the low season (1 October to 30 June) and IDR 490,000 from July to September, a two-dive trip IDR 770,000–795,000 and a night dive IDR 710,000–740,000, including tanks, weights, guide, transport and local fees.
