Ecodive Bali has been operating from Jemeluk Beach in Amed since 1997 and describes itself as the oldest and largest dive centre in the area. It is a PADI 5 Star IDC centre, running the full PADI programme from Scuba Review and Discover Scuba Diving through Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and specialty courses, up to Divemaster and Instructor.
Daily two-dive trips cover Amed's best sites — Jemeluk Bay, Bunutan and the Pyramids, Gili Selang and the Japanese Wreck, Kubu, Seraya and Batu Kelebit — as well as the USAT Liberty wreck in nearby Tulamben. Longer day trips go to Candi Dasa and Padangbai, Menjangan Island and Nusa Penida. At the time of writing, local two-dive trips start from US$75, including hotel pick-up in Amed or Tulamben, a full set of equipment and a guide; a PADI Open Water course is US$375.
The centre has a long-standing focus on protecting Amed's reefs and on sustainable tourism in this quiet fishing-village corner of east Bali, about two hours' drive from the airport.
