Two Fish Divers Amed is a PADI 5 Star dive centre based at Amed Beach Resort, on the beach in Amed's main village on Bali's north-east coast. It belongs to Two Fish Divers, founded in 2001 by English instructors Tina and Nigel, which now runs five centres in Bali and North Sulawesi; the company says it teaches more divers in Amed than at any of its other locations. Groups are limited to four guests per dive guide, dives run up to 75 minutes, and gear is loaded, washed and stored for you.
Unusually for Amed, the centre has its own dive boat (not a jukung) that leaves from the beach in front of the resort, so it can reach boat-only sites such as Banana Point, Bunutan and Gili Selang, where current brings reef sharks, barracuda and occasional mola mola. Shore dives are reached by car. Local sites include the house reef (Ghost Bay), a black-sand muck dive with mimic octopus, ghost pipefish, frogfish and seahorses that is excellent at night, plus Pyramids, Amed Wall, Jemeluk and the Japanese Wreck. The USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben is about 20 minutes away and is dived first thing in the morning, before the day-trippers arrive, followed by Coral Garden or the Drop Off. Day trips to Padangbai and Candidasa can be added.
PADI courses run from Discover Scuba Diving, Scuba Diver and Open Water through Advanced, Rescue and specialties to Divemaster internships and the IDC. Nitrox is available for certified divers and a full range of rental equipment is kept on site. At the time of writing, two morning dives to Amed or Tulamben cost IDR 1,300,000, a house-reef night dive IDR 610,000, the PADI Open Water course IDR 5,850,000 and full equipment IDR 150,000 a day; rooms at Amed Beach Resort start from IDR 650,000 a night with breakfast, and dive-and-stay packages are offered.
