Gili Divers — Gili Trawangan SSI Dive Resort since 2010

Gili Divers started in 2010 as a small dive shack just off the beach on Gili Trawangan, set up by Jenny from Sweden and Neill from the UK after years in the Thai dive industry. It has since grown into one of the most complete operations on the Gilis: a self-sufficient dive resort on the island's east coast with its own hotel, swimming pools, dive boats and compressors, plus the La Cala Beach Club restaurant. The boats pull up about 30 metres from the shop, so there is no long walk with your kit, and a sister centre operates on Gili Air.

It is an SSI-rated 5 Star centre, and its instructors also teach through PADI, RAID and TDI. Courses run from Try Scuba, Open Water and Advanced Adventurer through Stress & Rescue and specialties to Divemaster, Instructor Training and SSI Instructor Crossovers, alongside technical diving such as sidemount and decompression courses. An eco programme led by an environmental scientist offers an Eco Divemaster course, Ocean Quest coral propagation and ecology specialties, and the centre offers free divemaster internships to local people and supports the Gili Eco Trust. The international team speaks more than seven languages.

Fun dives go out three times a day to up to six different sites, all within about 15 minutes by fast boat, and divers can come back to the shop between dives. Regular sites include Shark Point and the Glen Nusa tug wreck, Turtle Heaven, Manta Point, Deep Turbo, the Bounty Wreck and Meno Wall.

Gili Divers publishes seasonal dive-and-stay packages in rupiah, for example two nights with three dives or Open Water and Advanced courses with three or four nights' accommodation. Check the website for current rates and Go Pro packages.
