Gili Trawangan

Gili Trawangan is the largest and liveliest of the three Gili Islands and has the greatest choice of dive centres. Turtles are almost guaranteed at sites such as Turtle Heaven and Halik, reef sharks rest at Shark Point, and the Bounty Wreck and a small Japanese wreck add variety for Advanced divers. The island is one of Asia's most popular places to take an Open Water course, and many centres also train Divemasters and Instructors, run technical courses and offer Nitrox. Boat rides are short and conditions generally gentle, though currents can pick up on the deeper sites. There are no cars or motorbikes on the island, so getting between your room and the dive shop is a short walk or bicycle ride.
