Lutwala Dive has been operating from Halik Beach on the northern tip of Gili Trawangan since 2009, away from the busy main strip on the island's east coast. It is a PADI 5 Star IDC centre with a training pool, Lutwala Café and its own accommodation: pool-view bungalows, a two-storey beachfront villa and a private villa, plus dorm-style rooms for course trainees. The team speaks English, Indonesian and Swedish.
Boats leave from the resort's own beach to sites around the Gilis just 10–15 minutes away, with reefs at 8–30 metres and walls dropping past 100 metres. Fun dives depart at 9:00am, 11:30am and 2:30pm daily (times can shift with the tides), night dives run on request, and groups are capped at four divers per guide. Courses cover the full PADI ladder from Bubblemaker and Discover Scuba through Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and specialties such as Deep, Enriched Air Nitrox, Underwater Photography and AWARE Shark Conservation, up to Divemaster, the Instructor Development Course, MSDT and EFR Instructor.
At the time of writing, a fun dive costs IDR 620,000 with rental gear included, a night dive IDR 730,000 and a Nitrox fill an extra IDR 150,000. The PADI Open Water course is IDR 6,600,000, Advanced Open Water IDR 5,600,000 and Rescue Diver IDR 6,600,000. The Gili Eco Trust contribution (IDR 50,000) and marine park fee (IDR 100,000) are charged separately. Check the website for current rates.
